He is survived by: his sons, John R. Mickel Jr. and Jason Mickel; his grandchildren, Eli, Gabriel, Issac and Amaya; and his siblings, Dave Mickel (Becky) and Andrea Abu-Akel (Atalla). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brightside Church.
