He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sandra Brown Wiersma; his children, Linda Brown (Wiersma), Lisa Anne Wiersma and Michael Wiersma (Abbi); his grandchildren, Michelle Haarman (Jeff) and Adrienne Brown Murdock (Victor); his great grandchildren, Robert Wiersma, Ryan Wiersma, Reid Wiersma, Ari Kaechele, Zetta Kaechele, Meghan Murdock and Achaius Murdock; his sister Sandy Congdon; his brother-in-law Duane Hop; his son Matthew Adrian Wiersma; his sister Wanda Hop (Wiersma); and his parents, Adrian Wiersma and Marjorie Wiersma (Staal). He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask to donate to one of the charities close to Darryl's heart.
