He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Benson and Anna Sylvia Benson (Swanson); his wife Amelia; his children, Kenneth and Kristine Liebrecht; and his siblings, Arthur, Leonard, Hartley, Mildred Benson, Dorothy George and Bernice Wondergem.
He is survived by: his children, William Benson (Jill) of Cadillac, Jon Benson (Jacqueline) of Alpena, Karen Sterzick (Steven) of Alto and Debra Buckson (Mathias) of Ypsilanti; his son-in-law Stephen Liebrecht of Adrian; his sister Ruth Lucille Peterson of Cadillac; and his sister-in-law Estella Gorham of Battle Creek. He is also survived by 20 Grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kiwanis Club of Cadillac or Cadillac Area Backpack Program.
