He was predeceased by: his parents, Asa Calvin and Mary A. Mattern (Miller); his son Dana; and his siblings, John, Chalmers, Charles, Paul and Rutheda.
He is survived by: his spouse RuLea M. Tate; and his children, Mark Mattern (Lynda), Sara Nielson (Gary) and Jennifer Mattern. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
