He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Karsten and Anne Karsten; his former wife Marlene Karsten; his son Timothy Karsten; his brother Vernon Karsten (Sandra); and his stepgrandson Colton Bowen.
He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Karsten (Bode); his children, Kraig Karsten (Kim), Randal Karsten (Elizabeth) and Kim Curtis (Matt); his daughter-in-law Penny Karsten; his stepchildren, Jeff Koetje (Becki) and Sheryl Whitehouse (Jeffery); his grandchildren, Matthew Karsten (Danielle), Elizabeth Jameson (Clinton), Alexander Karsten (Madhu), Elise Parks (Houston), Jarred Karsten, Leonard Lach (Hannah), Jordan Hoekwater (Lisa), Ryan Hoekwater (Taylor), Cole Whitehouse (Cristina), Josh Whitehouse (Jessica), Maggie Ladd (Dustin) and Grace Whitehouse; his great grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Parker, Hudson, Louise, George, Shiva, Gavin, Tyler, Evelyn, Wyatt, Gage, Celia, Ava, Johnathon, Franklin and Maeve; and his siblings, Judy Ellens (Gordon) and Eugene "Butch" Karsten (Mary).
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services (205 E Cass St, Cadillac, MI 49601). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Rehoboth Reformed Church (8372 S Lucas Rd, McBain, MI 49657-9106).
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rehoboth Reformed Church or Love INC.
