He was predeceased by: his father Harvey; his grandson Harley Johnson; and his brother Danny Johnson. He is survived by: his children, Denise Johnson of Cadillac, David Johnson of Hersey and Christina Johnson of Manton; the mother of his children Sherry Telgenhoff of Manton; and his siblings, Vondetta Johnson and Charles Johnson. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
