He was predeceased by: his parents, Erben Abel and Norma Abel; his daughter Lisa R. Mason; and his sisters, Eleanor LeVan and Jeannie English.
He is survived by: his wife Venita S. Abel (Davis); his sons, Michael R. of Plymouth and Patrick O. (Kim) of West Bloomfield; his grandson Tyler M. Abel (Carley); his great grandchild Gunnar of White Lake; his grandchildren, Macy A. Abel of Wixom and Matthew A. Rohloff (Alison); his great grandchildren, Marshall and Ruby of Petoskey; his granddaughters, Kayleigh Woolem of Portage and Karolyn Riggs of Petoskey; and his siblings, Richard E. Abel (Jill) of Meauwataka, Marilee K. Cochrane of DeWitt and Michael E. Abel of Mesick. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Russ's name to the Mesick United Methodist Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
