He was loved and cherished by many people including: his close friend Marv VanHeuvelen; his daughters, Jodi VanZant and Marci Peterson; his grandchildren, Samantha, Jacob, Madelynn, Ashley, Corrin and Rachael; his great grandchildren, Wesley, Cody and Daisy; and his sisters, Marcia Scheltema (David), Nancy Patterson (Carl) and Jan Apol (Ron).

Memorial contributions in memory of James may be made to Wyoming Seventh Day Adventist Church.
