He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene James and Marion James (Yaklin); and his sister-in-law Gloria. He is survived by: his girlfriend Nancy Holdorf; his children, Mick (Jodi), Julie Wendling (Eddie), Matt (Shawne), Anne Polston (Dale) and Sandra Holdorf; the mother of his children Chris James; and his siblings, Jerry James, Tom James (Linda), Ken James (Pam), Dave James (Ann), Judy Smoltz (Tom), Joe Walser (Marylou) and Barb James. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mike was born in Flint, Michigan on June 26, 1945, the son of the late Eugene and Marion (Yaklin) James.
