He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross H. Midgley and Beatrice I. Midgley (Thompson); his brothers, Ross Midgley and Duane Midgley; his son-in-law Steve Fraelich; and his pet Suzi.

He is survived by: his wife Marion Midgley (Pearson); his children, Frances Hutson (Michael) and Maurice Jr. Midgley (Anita); his grandchildren, Miriam Fraelich, Todd Fraelich, Luke Fraelich, Anna Fraelich, George Fraelich, Joel Midgley, Jeron Midgley and Jacob Midgley; his great grandchildren, Logan, Ruby, Summer, Lila, Elaina, Alyssa, Winston, Ivan, Ariana, Jake and Kallista; and his sister Shirley Vecellio. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
