He was predeceased by: his parents, John Jeremiah and Ethel Lucille Mieras (Thompson); his grandson Dominic Edward Jeremiah Grate; and also, Peggy Jo Mullins and Velma Minshall.
He is survived by: his former wife Caren Stevens-Grate; his daughters, Cassandra Lucille Waltz of Sturgis, MI and Mary-Cathrine Christine Grate of Detroit, MI; his stepchildren, Timothy James Stevens, Christopher Michael Stevens, Doug Minshall, Shannon Minshall and Nicole Minshall; his grandchildren, Alexis Dakota Waltz, Brock Michael Waltz, Zander Cole Grate and Aria Lucille Grate; and his siblings, Jerry Earl Grate and Joy Lynn Asher.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family, envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
