She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Army Medic Harry S. Bates and Frieda Anita Zweiniger; her husband Jess Minks; her sons, Jason, Derrick and Trevor; and her stepchildren, Kelly, Jim, John and Joe. She was also cherished by her 20 grandchildren, and her 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Rogel Cancer Center at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
