He was predeceased by: his parents, Volney Richard and Letha Belle Sears (Rathburn); and his siblings, Patricia Shearer, Nickie Sears, Gary Sears and David Sears.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Sears (Curey); his children, Brian Sears of Jackson, Kristine Shuster (Jim) of Cement City and Rebecca Sears of Tampa, FL; his grandchildren, Joshua Sears (Aleasha), Daniel Sears (Rachel), Amber Depweg (Josh), Kurtis Leindecker (Stephanie), Joel Leindecker (Jeannie), James Leindecker (Victoria), Kayla Sipe, Rodney Wint (Paige), Alyssa Marriott (Andrew) and Austin Wint (Sydney); and his brothers, Phillip Sears (Barbara), Timothy Sears (Mary), Darrell Sears and Mark Sears (Jill). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
