He was predeceased by: his son Jerry Hessemer; his brothers, Gordon, Bernard and Larry; and also Thelma Yeoman Hessemer.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Hessemer; his siblings, Charles and Janet Lazaroff; and his children, Joy Reed (Walter), Max Gormley (Sally), Scott Gormley and David Gormley (Angie).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Great Lakes Hospice.
