He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Stevens VanVleet Sr. and Eva Butler (Rice); his sons, Robert L. VanVleet and John C. VanVleet; his grandson Lance Wireman; and his siblings, Ronnie, David, Jerry VanVleet and Patricia VanVleet.

He is survived by: his wife Donna VanVleet (Baker); and his sister Ruby VanVleet of Coldwater. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many close friends and family.
