James T. Hackenberg Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James T. Hackenberg in Bronson, Michigan, who passed away on April 14, 2025 at the age of 106. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Jefferies Hackenberg and Emily Etta Hackenberg (Littlewood); his wife Dorothy Caroline Groggel; his son Gary; and his son-in-law Patrick Smith.
He is survived by: his children, James Hackenberg (Yvonne) of Kalamazoo, Barbara Tate (David) of Mattawan and Thomas Hackenberg; his daughter-in-law Laura Hackenberg; and his grandchildren, Matthew Smith (Lisa), Lindsey DeGraaf (Michael), Amy Gratwick (Kevin) and Kristy Lingerfelt (Rob). He is also survived by eight Great Grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church (2122 Bronson Blvd, Kalamazoo, MI 49008).
