It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Duane Shankel of Breckenridge, Michigan, born in Wheeler, Michigan, who passed away on May 16, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Shankel and Florence Shankel (Middleton); and his siblings, Lloyd, Ella, Marvin, Mildred, Lyle and Arland.

He is survived by: his former wife Barbara Northrup; his wife Barb; and his children, Roy Shankel (Linda), Danny Shankel (Rita), Ray Shankel (Sue) and Maryann Balgavy (John). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Breckenridge United Methodist Church or the Breckenridge American Legion.
