Gloria Jean (Mazza) Bonfiglio Obituary
It is with inconsolable grief that I announce the passing of my beloved Mother, Gloria Jean (Mazza) Bonfiglio of Bloomfield Township, daughter of Jane and Domenic Mazza; wife of Joseph Aloysius Bonfiglio; Mother of Joseph, Sandi and James. She graduated from St. Michael's High School in Pontiac and was married in the church by the pastor, Father Mahoney. With her husband and parents she became a partner in West Huron Recreation, which was renamed Huron Bowl, and again renamed Firebird Lanes. She studied voice at the Willoway Apprentice Theater with Celia Merrill Turner and appeared in four musicals staged there: "Carousel", "Oklahoma", "Kiss Me Kate" and "Take Me Along". She worked with blind bowlers establishing the only league for the blind in the area by setting up railings so the blind bowlers could feel their way down the approaches. For many years she worked on the voting for Bloomfield Township. She is survived by her oldest son and caregiver, Joseph Michael Bonfiglio, now of Farmington, Michigan. Another son, James Peter Domenic Bonfiglio and his wife, Michelle, reside in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. A memorial service will be held April 2, 2022, at St. Benedict's Church in Waterford.
