He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph McDermott and Exora McDermott (Hebert); his sisters, Colleen Bell, Marilyn Somalski and Carole Gradowski; and his brothers-in-law, Gil Bell, Dick Somalski, Tom Gradowski, Jim Vink, Bob Munley and Ted Balwinski.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his children, Joyce Farley (Paul), Lynn DaDamio (John), Mike McDermott (Sue), Patty Olson (Matt) and Matt McDermott (Kim); his grandchildren, Chris Farley (Nicole), Allie Farley, Ben, Emily McDermott, Rachel, Matthew, Audrey DaDamio, Molly, Ryan Olson, Ellie and Drew McDermott; his great grandchild Blair Farley; and his sisters, Lorraine Munley, Kay Vink and Maureen McDermott.
