He was predeceased by: his wife Delores; his sons, Joseph and Robert; and his granddaughters, Rechelle, Heather Lucka and Suzanne Kushuba (Campbell).
He is survived by: his siblings, Frank, Anne, Stella and Mary; and his children, Diane Lucka (James) of Weidman, MI, Daniel Kushuba and Lois Gartland (Michael) of East Tawas, MI.. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, live plants appreciated "in memory of Master Gardener Joe, and/or donations to St. Francis and Clare Catholic Church.
