He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Popp and Irene Popp (Visger); his son Joe Mitas; and his siblings, Dorothy, Norma, Richard, Margie, Nancy, Helen and Jim.
He is survived by: his wife Sophie; his children, James Mitas (Debbie), Janice Jones (Tim), Sue Schomaker (Rich), Sally Robinson (Kelly) and Joani Zietz (Gene); and his grandchildren, Stephanie (Rick), Christopher, Jennifer (Chad), Kyle (Megan), Jared (Sarah), Chad (Dana), Chelsea (Jeremy) and Caleigh (Max). He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In keeping with Covid-19 government regulations, only 10 people are permitted in the funeral chapel at one time and mask are required.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or S.S. Francis and Clare Catholic Church in Herb's name.
