He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Scherlitz and Marion Scherlitz (Boris). He is survived by: his wife Sandra Scherlitz; his children, Richard Scherlitz (Kathy), John DeBeliso and Junaline; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Anna Scherlitz, Dillon and Noah DeBeliso. He is also survived by extended family and close friends.

He always appreciated the friendship of everyone at Charity Baptist Church in Paris.
