He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Afton and Helen Afton (Doxtater); his siblings, Freda Grimes, Tom and Tony Afton; his son-in-law Tony Ball; and his nephew Tommy Afton.
He is survived by: his daughters, Carrie Hildenbrand of Kalamazoo and Erin Afton of Grand Rapids; his grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Meghan, Seamus, Erik and Shonny; his great grandchildren, Maison, Levi and Nova; his siblings, Bill Bird (Jackie) of Muskegon, Edna Sims (Bob) of Pryor, OK, Richard Afton of Reed City, Betty Wright of Mecosta and Paula Gould (Kerry) of Traverse City; his sisters-in-law, Wanda and Pam Afton; his niece Jessica Barrera; and his nephew Anthony Afton. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made for the Mecosta County Commission on Aging.
