It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joe Sams (Big Rapids, Michigan), born in Tuscola, Illinois, who passed away on January 5, 2019, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ples Sams and Opal Sams (Copass); his daughter Tabitha VanSlyke; his granddaughter Melissa; and his brother Gerald Clarkson.
He is survived by: his wife Anita Sams of Big Rapids; his children, Tammy E. Wadase (Stephen) of Poway, Teresa K. Mosel of Ingleside and Joe R. Sams (Cindy) of Jenison; his son-in-law Ken VanSlyke of Wyoming, Michigan; and his siblings, Harold Clarkson (Inge) of Johnsonville, Roy D. Clarkson (Sandy) of Tuscola, Illinois and Debbie Cook (Steve) of Tuscola, Illinois. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
