He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Smith Sr. and Mosezelia Parker Smith; and his wife Yong Cha Smith. He is survived by: his children, Mosezelia Santos (Seymour), Mary Lou Engelman (Robert) and Walter Smith Jr. (Suzanna); his grandchildren, Rachel Dennis, Natalie Lopez (William), Isabella Engelman, Kathryn Engelman, Siebrand Kipfmueller, John Kipfmueller, Christopher Smith (Hannah), Garrett Smith and Jacqueline Smith; his great grandchildren, Annalee Lopez, Ezekiel Lopez, Elijah Smith, Cameron Smith and Ava Smith; and his children, Buelah Smith Dixon, Lee Hilton Smith, Lizzie Smith Fennell, Sarah Smith Marshall, Laura Smith Alford, Leslie Smith Jr., Lillian Smith McCray (Paul) and Russell Smith. He is also survived by wife, and now he is with both mom and our sister.

Visitation was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home & Cremation Services (2125 12 Mile Rd, Berkley, MI 48072). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442).
