She was predeceased by: her parents, August Sommers and Augusta Sommers (Pschigoda); her husband C. Dale Nelson; her grandson Joseph Villwock; her great grandchildren, Colleen Villwock and Freddy Carter; and her brothers, Fred, Herman, Albert, William, August, Ben, Herbert, Samuel and John Sommers.
She is survived by: her daughters, Marion Koetsier of New Buffalo, Marjorie Kesterke (Mike) of Eau Claire and Marlene Villwock (Dale) of Buchanan; her grandchildren, Nick Kechkaylo (Alyson), Jenny Carter (Kris), Jacob Koetsier (Clint Berger), Rachael Koetsier (Lauren Carter), Adam Villwock (Brandy), Brian Villwock (Jennifer), Chad Kesterke and Amanda Kesterke; and her great grandchildren, Lucy Tucker, Sally Carter, Alex, Nina Kechkaylo, Theo Villwock and Bryce Villwock. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Starks & Menchinger Chapel (2650 Niles Rd, St Joseph, MI 49085). A celebration of life was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Zion United Church of Christ (9100 Church St., Baroda, MI 49101).
