He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolf Fitz and Martha Fitz; his son Ron Fitz; his wife Hildegard Fitz; and his brothers, Bert Fitz and William Fitz.
He is survived by: his daughter Joyce Zielke; his grandchildren, Paul Zielke, Nicole Myers, Heidi Adams, Zachary Jewell, Gracie Jewell and Bryce Jewell; his great grandchildren, Dalton Duis, Hayden Adams, Alivia Adams and David Jewell; and his siblings, Elfrieda Krebs and Herman Fitz.
