He was predeceased by: his parents, G. Clayton Hewitt and Helen Hewitt (Arter); and his brothers, Carlton Hewitt and Lawrence 'Dean Hewitt. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Hewitt (Landon); his daughter Shea Kulwicki (Roger); his grandchildren, Landon Kulwicki and Karli Kulwicki; and his great grandchild Johnathan Gulotta. He is also survived by 4 nephews and 1 niece.
