With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Alice VerLee (Berkley, Michigan), born in Oakland, Michigan, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 12, 2024 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. James "Jim" VerLee; her daughter Faith Shives; her parents, Paul Ballard and Lucille Ballard; and her siblings, Ralph Ballard (Bonnie), Ruth Pfeiffer (Herman) and Orville Ballard (Doy).
She is survived by: her children, Alice Anderson (Thomas), Donald VerLee, Dr. Peter VerLee (Patricia Stowell), Ted VerLee and George Saleeby (Miriam); and her siblings, Larry Ballard (Margy) and Judy Wood (Gerry). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home & Cremation Services (2125 Twelve Mile Rd, Berkley, MI 48072). The lying in state will be held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Berkley Community Church (2855 Wiltshire Rd, Berkley, MI 48072). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
