He was predeceased by: his parents, Millard "Red" Callendar and Marion Callendar (Fikes). He is survived by: his wife Jean (Hinz); his children, Kimberly Callendar, Stacey Blevins (Donnie) and Ryan Callendar; his siblings, Judy Hasselbring and Gary Callendar; his grandchildren, Tia Blevins-Millsap (Kenny) and Dalton Callendar (Angel Medrano); and his great grandchild Marianna Callendar-Medrano. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial donations in Virgil's memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, of which he was a member.
