He is survived by: his children, Jolita Darlene (Maurice) of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Leontyne Collene (James) of Jackson, Michigan and Christopher Michael; his wife Jolita Allene; his daughter Charase Dorsey (Alvin) of Benton Harbor, Michigan; his grandchildren, Imyn Burton, Marcellus Burton (Shakina), Joseph Hines, Alyse Hines, Michael Hawkins, Ashley Dorsey and Kellie Dorsey; his great grandchildren, Marcellus Jr., Malia and Jesse Burton; and his sisters, Ruby Earvin (Leroy) and Surphonia Pitts (Walter). He is also survived by nieces nephews and friends.

Memorial donations in Sammie's name may be made to Caring Circle Hospice in St. Joseph.
