We are sad to announce that on April 9, 2025, at the age of 91, Mother Dorothy Ann McCoy of Benton Harbor, Michigan passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Perry Logan and Annie Mae Logan (Porter); her stepfather Willie Yancy; her husband Phillip McCoy; her former husband Hal Burton; her siblings, Lee Jr., S. T. Logan, Wil Edward, Curtis Yancy (Otis), Ruby Lee Burton (Hatten), Lois Evans and Janet Tates; and her great grandchild Ava Fort.
She is survived by: her sister Mildred Nelson; her children, Melvin Burton (Vivian), Carolyn Fort (Norris), Terri Mays (Willie "Troy"), Sondra Woods (Vincent), Maurice Burton (Jolita), Maverick Burton and Starr Ridley (Pernell); her grandchildren, Ervin "Poncho" Eddie, April Eddie, Norris, Nicholas Fort (Angel), Annamaria Gross (Rashad), Derek Burton (Destiny), Amber Mzuka, Willie Mays, Jr. (Chiquita), Andrea Cross (Eric), Adrienne Brodie (Dakata), Shawn, Kendra Woods, Marcellus Burton (Shakinna), Imyn Burton, Diamond Burton, Renell, Ian Sadon, Kentrell Ridley and Aaron Golliday (Ashanti); her goddaughter Lady Sandra Reed (Pastor Kenneth); her close friend Mae Earl; and her caregiver Tawana Taylor. She is also survived by thirty great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at 175 S Euclid Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
