He was predeceased by: his mothers, Ernestine Johnson (Garrett) and Edwina McCree; his brothers, Ernest Johnson Jr. and Carl Johnson; his aunt Ida Mae Williams; his uncles, Moses Garrett and Bruce Garrett; his cousin Lyman Garrett; and his close friend William Leon "Billy" Whitfield.
He is survived by: his daughter Elizabeth McCree; his brother Ellis "Lee" Johnson; his cousins, Carol Wilder (Michael) and Bernice Johnson (Jesse); his sisters-in-law, Louise Johnson and Mattie Barney Johnson; and his close friends, Elijah Burton, Albert Franklin, Herman Goodloe and Ernest Payton.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Second Baptist Church (600 Donald Adkins Dr, Benton Harbor, MI 49022). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at the North Shore Memory Gardens (5027 M-63, Coloma, MI 49038).
