We are sad to announce that on October 14, 2023, at the age of 85, Charles Shelby of Benton Harbor, Michigan, born in Peoria, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Shelby and Elizabeth Bryson-Beene; his uncle Liberty Peyton; his aunt Lillian Peyton; his brothers, Riney Bryson, Carl Shelby and Earnest Shelby; his siblings-in-law, James Richard DeFoe, Richard A. DeFoe and Jean DeFoe (Mary R. DeFoe); and his father-in-law Richard DeFoe.

He is survived by: his former wife LaVonne Hutchin; his children, Glenn Shelby, Debra Shelby, Shawn Shelby and Todd Clark; his sisters-in-law, Antoinette DeFoe, Sue DeFoe and Deborah DeFoe; his grandchildren, Anthony Marsh, Monta Tutson, Shanesha Polk, Semmie McCoy, Alecia Shelby, Ashley Shelby, Glenn Shelby and Charles Shelby; and his niece Connie Hobbs. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
