He was predeceased by: his wife Marilyn; and his children, Darcey O'Hara and Aaron Chickering. He is survived by: his children, Tammi Kneale (Greg) of Lake Odessa and Chris Chickering (Shannon) of Saranac; his grandchildren, Megen Wittenbach, Amelia McGinnis (Tyler), Mackenzie Treman (Kevin), Mary O'Hara, Kylie Hendges (Joe) and Hunter Chickering; and his siblings, Richard Chickering (Mary Lou) of Belding and Ceclia Trebian (Gene) of Shiloh. He is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 26th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home (203 Pleasant St, Belding, MI 48809). A memorial service was held on Friday, September 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
