He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Akers and Hannah Akers; his sisters, Helen and Anna; and his son-in-law Dr. James Slack.
He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Santiago; his daughters, Mary Slack, Jane Wild, Jill Tideswell (Jeff), Anne Akers-Lewis (Kent) and Ruth Akers; and his brother Clyde Akers.
