She was predeceased by: her parents, Emil Merkle and Jane Merkle (Brown); her husband Richard Schmidt; her siblings, James Merkle, Lorna Mae Woodard, Emil Merkle Jr. and Thomas William Sr. Dale Merkle; her grandson Greg Schmidt (Courtney Clark); and her sister-in-law Ruth Merkle.
She is survived by: her children, Matthew Schmidt and Greta Andaluz (Michael); her grandchildren, Ryan Schmidt (Kayla) and David Schmidt (Alexus Becerril); her great grandchildren, Brayden, Emma, Hunter, Wylee, Caroline, Chloe, Cullen and Gerald; her brother Jon William; and her sisters-in-law, Anna, Margaret and Mary Lynn Merkle. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (706 W Jane St, Bay City, MI 48706).
