Terry D. Lancaster Obituary

Terry D. Lancaster, age 72, passed away on March 6, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 24, 1952, in Battle Creek, the son of Bobby and Jacqueline (Willey) Lancaster. Terry was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1971 then went on to receive his associate's degree in forestry from Northwestern Michigan University. During high school he was on the debate team, student of the year in DECA, and on the golf league. Terry was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy France.

Terry was united in marriage on October 22, 1988, at Christ United Methodist Church in Battle Creek to Brenda Castelein. Terrys first job as a teenager was at the Ritzee. He previously also worked over the years at United Steel and Wire, Ickes Wilbert Burial Vault Company, Trim Built Kitchens in Marshall, Securitas and as a valet for Firekeepers Casino for 10 years until his retirement. Terry had a propensity for volunteering. He was also a den leader and cubmaster for pack #306 at LaMora Park Elementary, which included may appearances in the holiday festivities they participated in.

He was also involved with the Battle Creek Citizens Police Academy. Terry was on the Urbandale Neighborhood Planning Council, NPC #5 and was awarded the Battle Creek Beautification award in 2023. He was a volunteer for various groups and organizations including Battle Creek Bombers, an election official, LPGA events, Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, and pow wows. Terry enjoyed bowling and was on a local bowling league for many years. Terry's hobbies also included recreational and tournament fishing, golfing, hunting, and camping at Yogi Bear in Fremont, Indiana.

Terry loved the care and attention the Cancer Care Center provided, the staff (the girls) kept him warm and comfortable. Terry was an avid MSU Spartan fan. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pete and Janet Shoot, fur babies; Brooklyn, Dodger, Shelby, and Dixie. Surviving are his wife, Brenda Lancaster, children; Rob (Lisa) Lancaster, Tim (Randy Torkelson) Lancaster, Jayme (Dan Tuttle) Lancaster, Kevin (Jessica Dauber) Castelein, grandchildren; Brennan, Keegan, Jordan, Jennah, Abigail, Allison, brother, Rick Lancaster, special niece, Allison Case, nephew James Case, and fur babies, Petey and Boomer.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with the memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Jordan Ghere officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Terry's memory to the Humane Society of South-Central Michigan.
