He was predeceased by: his son Terrance Cotton; his parents, Fred Smith and Athelene Cotton; his brothers, Calvin and Troy Cotton; and his sister-in-law Priscilla Cotton.

He is survived by: his daughter Shemeika Cotton; his siblings, Cathy Frierson, Joyce Settles, James Cotton (Erin), Michael Wallace and Randy Johnsen; and his niece Shantena Jones. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cherished family and friends.
