He is survived by: his wife Joyce Chaffee; his children, Nancy Finnegan, Bruce Chaffee (Nada), William Chaffee (Tiffany), Carl Chaffee (Ann) and Kimberly Bentley (Paul); his grandchildren, Shannon (Anish), Curtis, Billy (Marie), Brandie, Nicholas (Elizabeth), Matthew, Amanda, Lauren, Brendan, Bret and Bryanna; and his brother-in-law Cecil Welch.
