With profound sadness, we say goodbye to James W. LaVigne of Bark River, Michigan, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. James left this world on March 3, 2025 at the age of 89, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, William LaVigne and Gladys LaVigne (Arkens); his former wife Diana; his son Jerry Nye; and his siblings, Jillaine and Danny.
He is survived by: his wife Betty LaVigne (Gallagher); his children, Scott LaVigne (Sara) of Escanaba, Rhonda Heikkinen (Jason) of L'Anse and Tammy Jensen (Rob) of Escanaba; his grandchildren, Alex LaVigne, Cassidy LaVigne, David McLeod (Alex), Jimmy Veker (Hannah), Diana Veker (Kyle), Maggie LaVigne, Annalise LaVigne, Stacy Jensen (Steven), Courtney Bowden (Jake), Mackenzie McCarthy (Quintin) and Morgan Pepin (James); his great grandchildren, David, Madison, Cash, Crew, Skylar, Chase, Kennedy, Braxton, Bodi, Sutter and Emerson; and his sister Deanna Kauffman (Dale). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Crawford Funeral Chapel - Bark River (1236 Old U. S. 2, Bark River, MI 49807). The military honors was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church (1216 12th Rd, Bark River, MI 49807).
