He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Burnside and Rosemary Burnside; his sister Elizabeth Burnside; and his brother-in-law Richard Webb. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Sarah Smith (Jason) and Bill Burnside (Jessica); his grandchildren, Bronwyn, Ursula, Jackson and Hunter; and his sister Christine Burnside.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charitable organization of the donors choice.
