He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lauer and Rose Lauer; his wife Therese; his son Matthew Lauer; his granddaughter Emily; his brother William "Bill" Lauer Jr.; and his pet Harley.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Smith (Brian) of San Diego, CA, Rud J. Lauer of Melbourne Beach, FL and Dean Lauer (Carrie) of Galesburg; his daughter-in-law Linda Lauer of Paw Paw; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn, Alex and Gregory; his great grandchildren, Kennedy and Carter; his siblings, Bertie Becher of Stratford, WI and Patricia Mertens of Medford, WI; and his pet Carlos. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry.
