He was predeceased by: his daughter-in-law Jackie L. Shier; his grandson Noel Shier; and his siblings, Jean Caldwell, Mary Alice Linsley, Bob Shier and Donald Shier.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Shier; his children, Charles W. Shier, Sue J. Pettus (Jerry), Michael S. Shier (Francie) and Edward S. Shier (Jan); his grandchildren, Maria Pettus, Stephen, Gary (Brooke), John (Katy), Brian Shier, Elise Parks (John), Emily Wysmierski (Joe) and Sean Shier (Holly); and his sister Betty Tinsler. He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Lake Community Bible Church Day Camp, 8033 Central Park Boulevard, Baldwin MI 49304.
