He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gordon Popham and Anna Mae Popham (Champagne) of Meade Township; his former wife Joyce Tilt; his wife Mary Schlabach Schaaf; his children, Kathryn Ross (Randall) of Bad Axe, Cheryl Rzendzian (John) of Lawrenceburg and Laurie Thygesen (Kevin) of Millington; his grandchildren, Troy Popham (Sheri) of Bad Axe, Travis Ross of Bad Axe, Shannon Popham of Ubly, Briynne McCrea (James) of Bad Axe, Trenton Ross (Sarah) of Lakewood, Benjamin Rezendzian (Christina) of Lawrenceburg, Aaron Thygesen (Danielle) of Clio, Tanner Thygesen of Milan, Korey Thygesen of Davison and Miranda Rzendzian of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; his great grandchildren, Jayvien, Landon, Brody, Beau, Zion, Noelle, William, Elinor, Callie and Carter; and his sisters, Anna Mae Gortkowski and Marie Kanaski.
