He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wessels and Tillie Wessels; and his siblings, Pat Miller, Wanda Rysberg, Kathryn Brinker and George Wessels.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Wessels of Bad Axe; his children, Erich Wessels (Nancy) of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Laura Wessels (Matt Sandburn) of Auburn, Michigan; his grandchildren, Monica Wessels of Columbia, Nick and Lauren Wessels of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his sisters, Jean Schember of Sandusky and Sharon Elliott of Warren, Michigan; and his sisters-in-law, Carol Wessels of Harbor Beach and Patricia Bolen of Naperville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
