He was predeceased by: his parents, John Tianen and Selina Tianen (Friskey); and his brother Jack (Susie Tianen). He is survived by: his son-in-law Jerry; his wife Doris Tianen (Mayhew) of Bad Axe; his children, Carl Tianen (Susan) of White Lake and Donna Rochefort (Jerry) of Port Austin; his grandchildren, Jennifer McQuillan, Jamie Lieberman (Mike), Melissa Herman (Joshua), Jill Miller (Jeff) and Jeff Rochefort (Tina); and his great grandchildren, Emily McQuillan, Cerina, Alexandria Lieberman, Haley, Jack Miller, Ethan, Jacob Herman, Joel and Georgia Rochefort.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
