He was predeceased by: his wife Rena Poponea; and his brothers, Ilie Hentes (Helen), John Poponea (Debbie) and Philip Poponea (Manuela). He is survived by: his children, Paul Pantel, Patrick Poponea (Cayce), Elena Anstasiou (Peter), Nicole Heppner, Jessica (Dan), Cody, Demi, Evan, Drew, Nadia, Rena and Jake; and his brother Mike Poponea (Lisa). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
