He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward L. Bortle and Viola Bortle (Brown); and his great grandchild Kayden Stone. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte; and his children, Seymour "Butch" Bortle (Melissa), Dale Bortle (Lynn), Kim Duncan (Rick), Martin Bortle (Erin) and Brenda Nicholson (John). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
