He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Shirkey and Mae Shirkey (Doan); his wife Sharon Shirkey (Kinney); his siblings, Leonard, John, Bill, Donnie, Shirley and Joan; and his grandson Billy.
He is survived by: his children, Clayton Shirkey, Jr. (Karlene), Craig Shirkey (Sandra), Jennifer Thomas (Duke), Leslie Rizzo (Paul) and Julie Wing (Mark); his daughter-in-law Sandra Shirkey; his sister Faye Garry; his grandchildren, Amanda, Ian, Alexandria Lewis (Chris), Chandler, Landon, Allison, Tony, Shada and Mary; and his great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Raiden. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.
